Mommy's Weekend

Some girlfriends and I took a long trip down to Dallas (HaHa!) for the Women of Faith conference at the American Airlines Center. This is the fourth year I've gone. I always have a blast and learn a lot about the Lord and myself everytime I go. There are 22 of us. Some are new to the "clan", others are familiar faces we see every year. We rent several hotel rooms and bunk 4 to a room and stay up playing Hollywood Rummy until the wee hours of the morning. We also have a suite at the American Airlines Center to make it a more comfortable. Gotta have clean potties you know! The funny thing is, they convert all bathrooms except one to women's. I feel bad for the 4 guys that you see that have to trot all the way around to section 109 to go!! One of my favorite speakers, Patsy Clairmont, was there as usual and she always has a profound message to tell us, and makes us laugh while she does it. One of her messages was that we have to listen to the Lord. Sometimes the things He tells us make no sense at all until do what He asks of us and finally realize what He was trying to tell us all along. I once heard that life was like a tapestry. We see it from the backside. It looks like a mess. Jumbled up threads that go no where in particular and make no decipherable pattern. God sees this tapestry from the front. He sees the beautiful artwork that is our life and knows each thread of that life. Where it begins and where it leads. I love that analogy. My soul was refreshed at the conference and old friendships were rekindled. Can't wait to go again next year!

BTW...please pray for my mother (Jean) and Roger's grandmother (Julia). Both are ill now and need the prayers.

Daddy's Helper

As most of you know...Roger is remodeling our bathrooms. He has done an excellent job and I think they are so beautiful. JP has been a lot of help in this process, if you can imagine what that means. HaHa! He'll bring him his tape measure and hand him screwdrivers and all the things little boys can help with. We were coloring in the kitchen one night and JP decided to put a crayon behind his ear and said "Mommy, I'm gonna go help Daddy now". Too cute! We called Daddy at the firestation the other night and JP asked Roger..."Daddy? Are you at work? Are you using a pencil, Daddy?"

Pretty Toes

Well...Ju had her toes painted for the first time. I was thinking of a way to keep her on the potty long enough to go #2. She was bored with the book so I thought "Hey! What about a pedi!" She was a little iffy at first, but when she saw the pretty pink like Mommie's she got into it. BTW...she never did #2. We'll get around to that eventually!

Watermelon Extravaganza

Want a bite, Mommy?

OK....but only a little bite...and I'm holding it!!

Sunday Mom and the kids went to the Watermelon Extravaganza at our Church. Dad was on duty, so he had to miss the fun. The Church cooked hotdogs and had lots of yummy watermelon. When the kids finished their hotdogs, I went over to get the melon (I knew if they saw it they'd never eat their hotdogs). When Ju saw me with it she YELLED "Mommy!! LOLERMENIN!!!!" The people around us started giggling at her excitement. She made quick time of eating hers and asked J.P. for some of his. He was kind enough to share but didn't hand it over. He kept letting her have little bites until it was all gone. They played in the bounce houses and playground until they were too pooped to pop. J.P. wanted to play with the big kids but quickly realized he was too little to keep up with the big dogs. Give it a year son.

Where do we start?

OK.....So I've had this blog set up for about 6 months now and have yet to make a post. This is the first. I'm always so wrapped up with kids (we have 2 1/2 year old twins, Jacob and Julia) and work (I have two jobs) that I seldom take the time to write/type my thoughts. I've always wanted to start a journal. Mostly to keep up with all of the fun things the kids say and do. The past 2 1/2 years have gone by in a flash and I'm amazed at how much has become fuzzy, or that I can't remember at all. Maybe Roger will take an interest and blog also, but you guessed it....he's pretty busy as well. Definately a committment we're going to have to make.

Roger and I have started a running program....AGAIN! I just can't seem to stay on the band wagon. My goal is to be able to run a 5K by Thanksgiving. There is one in downtown McKinney the weekend of Dickens of a Christmas. I want to finish the run and buy a running shoe charm from James Avery to commemorate the occasion. Lord knows He and the ambulances will be with me! :) When I went in to get the kids this morning, first thing out of Julia's mouth was "Mommy, I want to go exercise!" My little fitness freak!! Just kidding. She knows that Mommy and Daddy exercising usually means a stop at the park to slide and play frisbee. We're trying to teach them to catch the frisbee, but two year olds are much harder to train than Austrailian Shepards.! LOL

I'll post some pictures soon....
